Most personal CRMs start by asking to import your contacts, and a lot of them want your calendar and your email too. That is a large amount of access to hand over for the sake of remembering to text someone. Gravity asks for none of it, and it is not a setting you have to find.

What Gravity does not ask for

  • No contacts permission, because the apps do not request address book access at all, on either platform
  • No access to your messages, on any platform, in any app
  • No calendar access and no email access
  • The Android app requests exactly two permissions in total, internet and notifications
  • You type the names of the people you want to keep up with, so nothing arrives that you did not put there
  • Phone number, email, notes and birthday are all optional fields you fill in only if you want them

What Gravity actually stores

  1. The names you typed — A name and a closeness level. That is the minimum, and for most people it is also the maximum.
  2. Optional details, if you add them — Phone, email, birthday and notes exist as fields. They stay empty unless you fill them in.
  3. When you last reached out — A date, set when you mark someone as contacted. This is what the reminders are calculated from.
  4. Nothing pulled from your phone — There is no import step, because there is no permission that would make one possible.

Frequently asked questions

Does Gravity really not have contacts access?

Correct, and it is verifiable rather than a promise. An iOS app must declare a usage description to read contacts and Gravity declares none. The Android app's manifest requests two permissions in total, internet and notifications. Neither app can read your address book because neither ever asks.

Do you train AI on my data?

No. Your people and your notes are not used to train any model.

Where is my data stored?

In your Gravity account on Gravity's own servers, so it syncs across iPhone, Android and the web. It is not a local-only app, and it would be dishonest to imply otherwise.

Can I export or delete everything?

Yes. You can delete your account and its data from settings.

Why does a relationship app need so little?

Because remembering to text someone only needs a name and a date. Everything beyond that is the app's convenience, not yours.
